南西諸島の石垣島と西表島に分布する日本固有種。常緑樹の枯れ枝に生息するが、詳しい生態などは不明。本属はNesothripsによく似るがメス・オスともに前付節に歯を備えることで区別できる。Nesothripsではオスのみが前付節に歯を備え、メスでは備えない。食菌性。

This species is endemic to Japan and is distributed in Ishigaki Is. and Iriomote Is. of the Ryukyu Islands. It lives on the dead branches of evergreen trees, but there is only a few biological information. This genus is very similar to Nesothrips, but can be distinguished by having fore tarsal tooth in both sexes. In Nesothrips, only male has fore tarsal tooth. Fungus-feeder.
